So we played a sold out show at The Media Club on Friday.
It was a lot of fun, how ever stepping back from the fun and taking a look at the actual show, it was much more flawed than I’d like it to be. Granted we’ve only played 3 live shows in total, with the lineup changing at each show. So it’s hard to get locked into a groove when it’s quite chaotic 90% of the time.
However, we learn from each gig. What I have learned is that our set lacks diversity, mostly because I’m afraid of adding variables into the set list with us being such a fresh live band.
How ever it is time to start playing more material from our upcoming release, which we haven’t been doing. Only 2 of the 7 songs from the EP are currently being played live. Which has to change.
How ever i’m not sure how this is possible with 4 people, but I’ll have to find a way to make it work, another member, more gear, stems, etc.
It might be a process of adding one element or song at a time, but we’ve got a month til our next line of shows. So prepare to see a new Bed of Stars by then!
A few other things to mention, I’ve been writing bits and pieces of new material for the full length, it’s a very slow process but it’s getting there. I’m feeling a bit bogged down and directionless at the moment, which looks like it’s about to change after my statement above.
The Spell has been mixed, and is currently waiting to be mastered. Which is the last song for the EP. I’m every excited to have this done, as it has been 2 years since I started demoing it.
Saying it out loud makes me frustrated. I’m not even sure if these songs represent what I want Bed of Stars to be anymore. I’ve grown a lot.
But if they connect with people, I’m sure i’ll find my place in them again.

January has been a weird month.
A few shows were booked, very exciting.
Landed a 4th member, so soon we’ll play our first show as a 4 piece.
Still waiting on the last mix for the EP, which is making me nervous.
Game plans keep changing, I’m not quite sure where to focus my energy and therefor I feel like I’m wasting it.
And this month my Heath hasn’t been 100% so there is a very worn out energy to the start of the year, which isn’t very inspiring or what I had been expecting.
But I’m growing from it in some positive ways, so I’m sure it’s just another way to prep for the future.
I could use a bit of guidance soon though, before my mind goes.
Also I’m not going to promise any content for you this time. I figure with the way things go, if I promise nothing then maybe I’ll obtain something to offer you.
I’ll try to give you a more cohesive update soon.
First, Heath. Both mentally and physically!
